You can invest half your paycheck in serums and creams- even splurge on dermal fillers and pricey facials- but none of it will get you far without a skin-friendly diet.
Of course, your skin (and the rest of you, for that matter) is best served by a well-rounded diet, including healthy fats, sufficient protein, and lots of fruits and vegetables. But there are a few nutritional standouts that make particularly important contributions
to strong, glowing skin:

1. Fish: Fatty fish like salmon, tilapia, and cod are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. And that's a good thing, because our bodies cannot produce those essential lipids naturally. By adding omega-3s to your diet, though, you can bolster your skin barrier - that is, the layer of lipids that holds onto moisture and keeps irritants out.
There is even evidence that the skin-strengthening effects of omega-3s can improve chronic skin conditions like rosacea and atopic dermatitis, but more research is necessary to confirm that link.
Furthermore, many types of fish (like, once again, salmon and cod) are rich in vitamin D- as dermatologists increasingly emphasize sun avoidance, we also need to emphasize the importance of finding other sources of this vitamin, which is produced during sun exposure.
Don't eat fish? Many eggs are now fortified with omega-3 fatty acids, and plant sources include flax seed and flax seed oil, walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts. And a daily vitamin D supplement is a good idea for vegans and meat-eaters alike.
2. Green Tea: It's inexpensive, easy to add to your routine, and one of the best-researched and most powerful antioxidants around. That's why green tea is my go-to antioxidant: I drink at least three cups a day to fight aging and inflammation. Some studies even suggest that the antioxidants in green tea reduce one's risk of skin cancer. So put down that soda and start drinking your way to healthier skin!
3. Broccoli: Rich in vitamins A, C, and K (among many other nutrients), this veggie does more than its fair share of nutritional work. Vitamin A decreases oil production, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, and vitamin K can help prevent bruises. So whatever ails you, this green wonder food might be just what the doctor ordered.
4. Safflower or Sunflower Oil: Omega-3s get a lot more talk, but omega-6 fatty acids- like the linoleic acid in these two oils- are also important for healthy skin. Like omega-3s, they help prevent dry skin and inflammation; they're also essential for the formation of prostaglandins, hormones that keep all the cells of the body functioning well.
While many diets are actually quite high in omega-6s- sometimes even too high- the key is to get the good ones and not unhealthy versions, like hydrogenated oils. So try sautéing your salmon or broccoli in a little safflower or sunflower oil and double those skin-soothing benefits!
5. Almonds: When it comes to boosting skin's defenses against aging, inflammation, and even skin cancer, antioxidants are so important that I'm going to add another to my list: A handful of almonds every day boosts your levels of vitamin E, one of the most important antioxidants for skin health. Studies also suggest that consuming vitamin E orally can increase the levels of this moisturizing vitamin on your skin's surface- great news for anyone prone to dry skin.

Wishing you great skin (and bon appetit)!

Lust is always mistaken as love. Lust is passion. Lust is desire. Lust is therefore not love. It can be difficult for the inexperienced to distinguish between the two emotions. Especially, in the beginning of a relationship when sexual feelings are stronger.
Love
Love is the emotional attachment in a relationship. Love is the sincere feeling of affection and devotion that you have for your partner. It is a deep, profound, and pure emotion that does not sway easily. Love is an emotion that can take years to build up and can only be felt for someone you hold dear.
Lust
And then there is lust. Lust can be felt towards anybody with a sufficient amount of sexual appeal. Lust is so sensual in it's raw nature of being and can be formed instantly. It is a strong, excessive craving for sexual intimacy that can be difficult to control.
It is probably lust if sex is the main basis of your relationship. Can't keep your hands off each other? Is sex the only thing that you look forward to with this person? It is probably lust. A relationship founded on lust will only last as long as the two people involved are sexually attracted to one another; this can wear off fast.

Not Listening

Communication is the crux of all relationships, and if the communication is not strong then your relationship will not be. Not only is talking about your feelings important, but listening is also vital.

When your mate is unleashing his or her emotions on you, make it evident that you are taking what he or she says into consideration. Do this by showing a sincere interest in things you know are important to him or her, regardless if it is a minor thing or a major thing.

Also, if your significant other notifies you of an aspect of your personality or behavior that he or she dislikes that is within reason, try your hardest to prevent yourself from doing such things in the future. Although you may not completely eliminate that annoying habit, the effort that you show will be enough to satisfy that person.

Excess Baggage

Everyone has baggage; however, the key is dealing with that baggage and not allowing it to influence your relationship.

Everyone goes through obstacles throughout their day that cause stress. However, by no means should you tell your mate every time you are upset. With that said, do tell the person when something major happens to you-not when you've been plagued with something as minor as a paper cut. Nobody likes to be burdened with other people's downfalls on a constant basis because they are dealing with their own misfortunes as well.

Commitment Problems

With time, a certain comfort level is reached in a relationship. When this happens, a relationship becomes serious, or in other words, committed. For some, the word "committed" entails labels and obligations.

In order to be in a committed relationship, you must be mature and realize that it will take hard work and dedication to maintain. Make sure that your mate knows where he or she stands with you at all times. This is achieved through actions. Show your mate how much he or she means to you by writing a sentimental poem or by literally telling that person.

Commitment is scary for many because it serves as the end to just being you and the beginning for you being two. So if you are in fact serious about your mate, do not force him or her into a commitment; rather, let things ease into that stage. Do this first by taking the relationship day to day, and then as things progress, subtly slip hints that you are beginning to think about your future together.

Family Matters

The family – you have to love them even though most times it would be easier to throw pixie dust on them and wish they would vanish off to Never land. However, the reality is that you must make sure you are on your best behavior in front of them if you want a serious long-lasting relationship with your mate.

Keep in mind that you must think of this task as a job. You can make a great first impression, but the staying power of that impression is what counts. Make sure the family feels that you are not only getting to know them for your mate, but that you are also getting to know them because you actually like them as people. With that said, invite them to join you in activities that do not include your mate such as shopping.

Also, make sure you exercise great mannerisms. This means always cleaning the table after a meal without being asked and always offering to help in chores around the house. Not only must you go that extra mile, but you also must make sure you impress while doing so. This means always bringing a dish of the family's favorite food each time you come over, or calling the person's mom when at the supermarket to see if she needs anything.

Being a Workaholic

In this day and age, the height of success is a long and rough road to travel. In your voyage to riches, you may unintentionally neglect your special someone.

Your mate can only be so supportive. Remember a long-lasting relationship is as fulfilling as a successful career. As a career entails obstacles and levels to reach the top, so do relationships. However, this does not mean to place your relationship over your career, but rather balance the two.

To maintain this juggling act, you should try to invite your mate to work gatherings and keep him or her updated on the events in your career. This way they will feel connected to that aspect of your life and will be more understanding if you sometimes decide to choose work over them.

YOU DON’T NEED THEM

If your mate still ends up breaking up with you even after all of this, do not waste your time being upset; rather, be relieved with the reassurance that you can do much better.

Have you wondered how people last 10, 20 or more years together? Here are some of the secrets!

1.) Accept The Shortcomings. None of us are perfect. Some of us are sloppy. Some of us are perpetually late. It's just what happens. If a person spent 18+ years of their life a certain way, you aren't going to "retrain" them. And really, they are not with you to have a new mommy or daddy. They want a partner in life to love them the way they ARE.

2.) Admitting your wrong. Some days couples argue about stuff. This most likely is small little arguments as the couples figure out in the end. In the end of the argument if its not solved, one of them is going to notice that it's their fault for even starting about this argument. That person will tell his/her partner that he/she is sorry, and of course the other person will forgive, because if both people really love each other, both couples cannot live in lives without each other.

3.) Agree to Disagree. There are some issues that simply come down to personal choice. You like mayo. He hates mayo. There's no right or wrong there. You can try to force him to like mayo - but really, in life we are all different. We should respect each other's differences.

4.) Be Aware of Stressful Times. There are always going to be times that your partner is simply stressed out. He had a rough day at work, his boss yelled at him, and he comes home feeling very cranky. Sure, it isn't your fault, and it's not fair. But part of being a partnership is supporting each other against the world.

5.) Be Independently Happy. You love your partner, of course. But you should not rely on your partner to MAKE you happy. You shouldn't be miserable without your partner, and therefore blame your partner for making you sad by being away or not perfectly affectionate or whatever.

6.) Brush the haterz off. Don't let everybody in the relationship. It's you and him not you him and his mom.

7.) Choose your Arguments Wisely. Each time you argue, it takes a portion of the joy out of your relationship. It also shows a lack of respect for each other, that you cannot sit and discuss an issue without resorting to out-shouting each other. If your partner insists while you're driving in the car that Layla was sung by Cream and not by Derek and the Dominos, it's not worth arguing over right then. Simply say "We'll look it up on Google when we get home."

8.) Do Not Shout. Good relationships are between best friends who love and respect each other. Shouting involves intimidating or being louder than the other person to drown them out. This isn't a sign of respect by any stretch of the imagination.

9.) Don't suffocate him. Say you get home from work before he does. Don't immediately jump him with a to-do list the second he gets through the door.

10.) Forgive :) There are times that at first you think, how could he? etc. Talk to him about it openly, make sure you truly understand why he did something or said something. Try to believe him and trust him. But of course dont be stupid, if you see that he is simply being a true arsehole and he has no good reason for what he did. then leave; but, you have to make sure that its something thats actually worth you guys not being together.., Think before you argue or acuse him of something.. advice.. make sure you know what you're talking about before you confront him about a girl or whatever... tell him you love him and mean it..

11.) Foundation. Build a Solid Foundation It'll help for the future. You'll know how to please him Emotionally, Physically and Sexually

12.) I Love You. Dont forget to say "I LOVE YOU"

13.) Less of the Ex - Avoid saying too much of your ex love, say only what you are asked and nothing of not asked. Be careful not to say anything that may make the other partner jealousy and raise suspicion

14.) Staying Together. For you to last you must talk, have feelings for each other, and risk somethings just to be with the one you love

15.)Tell him how you feel. Make sure you tell your partner how you feel, and dont say things that you dont mean.

16.)Try not to say no. when ure date asks you something try not to say no

The prisoners of CPDRC-2 in Cebu City, Philippines are internationally known for their dancing skills and performances.

As a recap, the prisoners were tired and bored of doing their ordinary exercise positions or actions. So, the staff of the prison thought of another option in order to make the prisoners look lively and energetic everyday. Later on, they came to realize, " Why not letting them dance instead of doing those boring exercise positions ?".

Now, they are already followed and watched by many organizations and people, respectively, all over the world.

Because Sinulog Festival is one of the grandest religious festival in the Philippines, they offered a sinulog dance presentation to the child of God or the Sto. Nino in this year's Sinulog Festival celebration.

At first, they wanted to dance or perform in public. They wanted to join with the dancing public. But, they were not allowed by the Governor for security reasons. Yet, they understood and they just presented their sinulog dance inside the prison..So, check this out!

[This afternoon I read an article about healthy foods by Joy Bauer, M.S., R.D., C.D.N. This is very useful to all of us, so I post this on my blog]

When it comes to diet-friendly foods that keep you feeling full for hours, your best bets include protein and fiber. Protein works because compared to carbohydrate and fat, protein takes a longer time to digest.

Fiber helps by absorbing water, and therefore, expanding in your stomach and creating a feeling of fullness. Single foods that automatically combine the two - and are less than 200 calories - include ½ cup starchy beans (for example, navy, kidney, black, pinto and garbanzo beans) and one ounce nuts or seeds.

When it comes to meal and snack combinations, your options are endless. The following menu provides a few meal ideas that fit the bill.

Breakfast: ½ cup Kellogg’s All-Bran or General Mills Fiber One cereal, plus 1 cup of cinnamon-flavored Barbara’s Puffins, and 1 cup of Skim Plus (higher in protein than other milks). *You can also use 1 cup Kashi Go Lean cereal mixed with Skim Plus.

Lunch: Large vegetable salad with 3-5 ounces grilled chicken, half cup chick peas, and low-calorie vinaigrette dressing.

Dinner: Shrimp-vegetable stir fry with ½ cup brown rice.

Snack Options (each between 100-200 calories):
-One piece of fruit + one ounce low-fat cheese
-20 almonds or 35 pistachio nuts
-Non-fat yogurt topped with ½ cup high fiber cereal.

I like Pink and her songs.

This song, family portrait, is what I like best because it pictures out a family situation. Moreover, it tells us how important each family member is, especially the father and mother. That, in oder to have an almost perfect family each member needs to understand, respect, care, love and help each other in the guidance of the parents. The parents are the models to their kids. They are the rower and controller in the journey towards LIFE.

Therefore, like the family portrait (everyone is smiling and happy posing and facing the camera), may each family truly happy and united in the actual life situation!

[ As i opened the computer today, I've read an article about sleeping problem and its possible solutions. I copied and posted the solutions on my blog not just for everyone to see but for me to be always reminded as well; because, I also have sleeping problems. I'm sure, this could help us all who are experiencing sleeping problems.]

Fortunately, there are many measures besides popping pills that you can use to improve your chances of getting a good night's sleep. Here are a few:

1. Acknowledge your stressors.
Consider transferring that list of items swirling around in your head at night onto a sheet of paper. This will help you feel as if you've gotten started with your tasks and let you get some rest.

2. Exercise regularly. It may seem counterintuitive, but upping your level of activity during the evening, when you think you're wiped out, will help you to gain a second wind and probably to sleep better when you do retire.

3. Avoid caffeine after mid-day. Be wary, too, of sodas and teas, which often contain caffeine as well.

4. Go to bed when you're tired. Don't spend time staring at the ceiling and worrying about how you simply must get some sleep. Get up, do something relaxing in another room, and return to bed when you're ready.

5. Learn relaxation techniques. Consciously attend to your breathing; imagine being in your favorite place (think: "Calgon, take me away!"); relax your muscles, scanning your body from head to toe - Pilates and yoga classes often teach these skills.

6. Maintain a routine. Changing your sleep schedule dramatically on Friday and Saturday nights can lead to a shift in your circadian rhythm that carries into the following week.

7. Consider melatonin. This hormone is a natural sleep aid. It appears to work particularly well for those who have trouble staying asleep, even though they may easily fall asleep. A dose of 0.3 mg nightly is recommended.

Talk with your doctor about your sleep troubles if they persist. Pain, snoring, frequent nighttime urination, or symptoms of anxiety or depression should be further assessed and may respond to other treatments.

[ We are now celebrating the Sinulog Festival here in Cebu City. The celebration starts today, January 12, and it will end on January 20, 2008. The highlights of the celebration would include the Fluvial Procession, the Sinulog Dance Competition, the street dancing competition, etc.. These are done in honor of the child Jesus or the Sto. Nino.]

The Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu (since in the Catholic faith Jesus is not a saint, but God). It is essentially a dance ritual that remembers the Filipino people's pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity.
The festival features some the country's most colorful displays of pomp and pageantry: participants garbed in bright-colored costumes
dance to the rhythm of drums, trumpets, and native gongs. The streets are usually lined with vendors and pedestrians all wanting to witness the street-dancing. Smaller versions of the festival are also held in various parts of the province, also to celebrate and honor the Santo Niño. There is also a Sinulog sa Kabataan, which is performed by the youths of Cebu a week before the Grand Parade.
Recently, the cultural event has been commercialized as a tourist attraction and instead of traditional street-dancing from locals, Sinulog also came to mean a contest featuring contingents from various parts of the country. The Sinulog Contest is traditionally held in the
Cebu City Sports Complex, where most of Cebu's major provincial events are held.

The Festival
The celebration traditionally lasts for nine days, culminating on the ninth day when the Sinulog Grand Parade starts. The day before the parade, the
Fluvial Procession, a water-parade, held at dawn from the Mandaue City to Cebu City with the Santo Niño carried on a pump boat decked with hundreds of flowers and candles. The procession ends at the Basilica where a re-enactment of the Christianizing of Cebu follows. In the afternoon, a more solemn procession takes place along the major streets of the city, which last for hours due to large crowd participating in the religious event.
On the feast day, at the Basilica, a Pontifical Mass is celebrated by the Cardinal with the assistance of several bishops of Cebu. The majority of the city’s population and devotees would flock to the Basilica to attend the mass before heading out to the streets to watch the Parade.

Background
'Sinulog' comes from the
Cebuano adverb sulog which is "like water current movement," which adeptly describes the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance. Traditionally, the dance consists of two steps forward and one step backward, done to the sound of the drums. The dance is categorized into Sinulog-base, Free-Interpretation. Candle vendors at the Basilica continue to perform the traditional version of the dance when lighting a candle for the customer, usually accompanied by songs in the native language.
The Sinulog dance steps were believed to originate from Rajah Humabon's adviser, Baladhay. It was during Humabon's grief when Baladhay was driven sick. He then ordered his natives to bring Baladhay into a chapel where the Sto. Niño was enthroned. Moments later, surprisingly, Baldhay was heard shouting and was found dancing with outmost alertness. Baladhay was questioned as to whether why was he awake and was shouting. Baladhay explained that he found a small child, pointing to the image of the Sto. Niño, on top of him and trying to wake him up. He, at great astonishment, scared the child away by shouting but couldn't explain why he was dancing the movements of the river. Up to this day, the two-steps forward and the one-step backward movement dance is still used by the Sto. Niño devotees believing that it was the Sto. Niño's choice to have Baladhay dance what the holy child wants them to dance.

History
Pre-Spanish and the First Wave of Spaniards
Historians have noted that before the first Spaniards came to Cebu, the Sinulog was already danced by the natives in honor of their wooden idols called anitos. Then, on
April 7, 1521, the Portuguese navigator, Fernando de Magallanes arrived and planted the cross on the shores of Cebu, claiming the territory in the name of the King of Spain. He then presented the image of the child Jesus, the Santo Niño, as baptismal gift to Hara Humamay, wife of Cebu's Rajah Humabon. Hara Humamay was later named, Queen Juana in honor of Juana, Carlos I's mother. Along with the rulers of the island, some 800 natives were also baptized to the Christian faith. At the moment of receiving the image, it was said that Queen Juana danced with joy bearing the image of the child Jesus. With the other natives following her example, this moment was regarded as the first Sinulog.
This event is frequently used as basis for most Sinulog dances, which dramatize the coming of the Spaniards and the presentation of the Santo Niño to the Queen. A popular theme among Sinulog dances is Queen Juana holding the Santo Niño in her arms and using it to bless her people who are often afflicted by sickness caused by demons and other evil spirits.

The Coming of Legazpi
After Magellan met his death on
April 27, 1521 on the shores of Mactan (ruled by Muslim Rajah Lapu-Lapu), the remnants of his men returned to Spain. However, it took 44 years before the Spaniards achieved some measure of success in colonizing the islands and eventually the whole Philippines.
The
conquistador, Miguel López de Legazpi arrived in Cebu on April 28, 1565 and destroyed the village ruled by Rajah Tupas. In one of the huts of the burning village, one of Legazpi's soldiers named Juan Camus found a wooden box containing the image of the Santo Niño lying amongst several native idols. Historians later said that during the 44 years between the coming of Magellan and Legazpi, the natives of Cebu continued to dance the Sinulog but no longer to worship their anitos but to show their reverence to the Santo Niño.
The
Augustinian friars that accompanied Legazpi in his expedition proclaimed the statue miraculous and built a church on the site where it was found. The church was called San Agustin Church but was later renamed to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.

Lota (Urdu & Hindi) is an Urdu and Hindi word for a small, usually spherical water vessel of brass or copper used in parts of South Asia.It is commonly used in daily activities like cooking or cleaning to store or transfer small amounts of liquids like milk or water.

It is also used in religious activities like Hindu poojas or for purposes of ablution prior to Namaz. When used for Hindu worships, it is often decorated with sindoor and/or turmeric powder.

Charles Eames and the Lota
Charles Eames was fascinated by the Lota and considered it significant because it has become, over its evolution, exactly right. The design of the lota addresses the need of retrieving, carrying, storing, and pouring water.

Other facts
In the South-Asian sub-continent, where cleaning with water is the usual method for maintaining personal hygiene after defecation, a lota with a spout is widely used as a container for this purpose.

A stainless-steel lota with a spout"Lota" is also a very famous word in politics of Pakistan, because the local politicians are used to change their loyalities with their respective parties to others, only for their personal benifits. Interestingly the word "Lota" is become a pharase or symbolic of shames for those who changed their loyalities.

The word "lota" or the phrase "Bependi ka Lota" (literrally a "lota without a base") is colloquially used in a derogatory manner to refer to a person who frequently switches loyalties. This is because a spherical lota without a base tends to roll over in unpredictable directions when kept on uneven ground. The neologism "lotacracy" was coined in Pakistan to describe politicians who frequently switched parties.
Provisionally used as the term "sajed" many years ago, Urdu language was changed and suited for further fluency. What we then knew as "sajed" is now known as a "lota".In many parts of Bangladesh, the term "bodna" is used to describe it.

boycott • \BOY-kaht\ • verb

: to engage in a concerted refusal to have dealings with (as a person, store, or organization) usually to express disapproval or to force acceptance of certain conditions

Example Sentence:
The group boycotted the clothing company to protest its practice of employing sweatshop labor.

Did you know?
In the 1870s, Irish farmers faced an agricultural crisis that threatened to result in a repeat of the terrible famine and mass evictions of the 1840s. Anticipating financial ruin, they formed a Land League to campaign against the rent increases and evictions landlords were imposing as a result of the crisis. Retired British army captain Charles Boycott had the misfortune to be acting as an agent for an absentee landlord at the time, and when he tried to evict tenant farmers for refusing to pay their rent, he was ostracized by the League and community. His laborers and servants quit, and his crops began to rot. Boycott's fate was soon well known, and his name became a byword for that particular protest strategy.

nettle \NET-ul\ • verb

1 : to strike or sting with or as if with nettles
*2 : to arouse to sharp but transitory annoyance or anger

Example Sentence:
You could tell by his nervous reaction that the town official was nettled by the reporter's probing questions.

Did you know?
If you've ever brushed against nettles, you know those weeds have sharp bristles that can leave you smarting and itching. The painful and irritating rash that nettles cause can last for days, but at least it is a rash with a linguistic silver lining. The discomfort caused by nettles can serve to remind one that the verb "nettle" is a synonym of "irritate." "Nettle" originated as a plant name that we can trace to the Old English word "netel." Eventually, people likened the nagging itch caused by the plant to the nagging aggravation of being annoyed, and "nettle" became a synonym of "vex," "peeve," and of course "irritate."
