Our house before was surrounded with guavas; so, I used to bring guavas at school when I was an elementary school student. I brought guavas at school for three reasons. First, guavas served as my snacks during recess. Second, I bartered them with papers from my schoolmates. Third, I sold them to my classmates.

Guava is a round tropical fruit with yellow skin and pink pulp. Guavas are often considered
superfruits, being rich in vitamins A and C, omega-3 and -6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (mainly in the seeds which must be chewed to obtain the omega fats) and especially high levels of dietary fiber.

Uses of Guavas;

1. Ripe guavas can be used as food.
Aside from guavas are delicious, these are also good for our health because these are rich in vitamin A & C and omega 3 & 6.

2. Unripe guavas can be an alternative treatment for LBM or Loose Bowel Movement.
We can eat a handful of unripe guavas, especially the young ones to treat LBM. After a couple of hours, our bowel movement will go back to normal.

3. Guava leaves can be used in disinfecting wounds. Likewise, guavas are used to stop a wound from bleeding.
In disinfecting wounds, we must boil the guava leaves first. After boiling, we'll wait until the water becomes warm. When it's already warm, we'll wash the wound right away using it. On the other hand, if we have a cut or a wound that is bleeding, we can chew young guava leaves and put them on the cut so that the bleeding stops.

4. Guava stems can be used in cleaning the teeth.
If we're taking a holiday in a remote area, if we're camping or if we're mountain climbing then we forget to bring toothbrush or toothpaste, we can use guava stems instead....How?..Firstly, we'll cut a young stem at least 3 inches long; secondly, we'll bite both ends of the stem; lastly, we'll scrub our teeth in an upward/downward motion using the certain stem.

5. Guava twigs can be used in making slingshots

We can cut the V-shaped twigs to make slingshots.

6. Guavas can be used as decorations
If we forget to buy flowers, if we want to save up money or if we want to have a unique decoration, we can use guava fruits, leaves, stems & flowers instead.

7. Guava trees can used by children in playing or having fun.

It's safe for children to climb and play in a guava tree because it's not high. As well as, children can hold the branch and swing themselves to have fun.

8. Guava tree, e.g. branch can be used in cooking.

We can cook food using a pile of firewood from a guava tree.

9. Guava fruits can be a source of income.
We can sell guava fruits to earn money.

10. Guava fruits can help pupils or students during exams.

If the students have no more papers, they can approach their classmates and do barter system- guavas to papers.

There are still other uses of guavas, it's up for you to find out. If you think guavas can be of help to you, so start planting guava trees now!
